Ms. Areej Ashfaq, Assistant Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), represented the University of Rawalpindi (UOR) at the national seminar titled “QS Insights: Realigning Reputation, Research and Global Engagement to Build Globally Competitive Universities in Pakistan” held on 30 October 2026 at The University of Lahore.
Organised in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the QS Intelligence Unit, the seminar brought together university leaders and representatives from more than 110 universities across Pakistan to discuss institutional performance, academic reputation, and strategies for enhancing global competitiveness.
Mr. Rami Awad, Regional Partnerships Director at QS, led sessions on global ranking methodologies and data-driven approaches to improving academic reputation, research visibility, citation impact, and international engagement. The QS masterclass also offered practical guidance on the 2028 QS Rankings cycle, covering key submission requirements, evaluation criteria, and timelines.
A panel discussion featuring HEC representatives and academic leaders from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and the University of the Punjab explored the challenges and opportunities involved in strengthening the international standing of Pakistani universities. The discussion provided valuable perspectives on institutional development, research performance, and the evolving landscape of global higher education.
UOR’s participation reflects its continued commitment to quality assurance, evidence-based institutional planning, and academic development. The insights gained through the seminar will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen the university’s academic standards, research visibility, and global engagement.
