University of Rawalpindi (UOR) is expanding its international academic engagement through discussions with Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Indonesia, exploring opportunities in faculty exchange, joint research, student exchange and collaborative teaching.

The discussions took place at Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia on 26 August 2026, where Prof. Dr. Fahim Arif, Head of the Department of Computing and Intelligent Systems at the University of Rawalpindi, met with representatives of UAI’s Informatics Programme and Office of Partnerships and International Affairs.

The UAI delegation included Dr. Ir. Winangsari Pradani, M.T., Head of the Informatics Programme; Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal, M.T.; Andi Arniaty Arsyad, Ph.D.; and Dr. Mohamad Ghozali Moenawar, Lc., M.M., Director of Partnerships and International Affairs.

Discussions focused particularly on opportunities for joint research and collaborative teaching in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, alongside faculty exchange initiatives aimed at strengthening academic and research interaction between the two institutions.

The two universities also explored student exchange opportunities, which could enable students to gain international academic exposure and experience different educational and cultural environments. Potential future areas of collaboration discussed included double-degree pathways and extending academic engagement beyond computing to other disciplines of mutual interest.

The engagement forms part of the University of Rawalpindi’s broader efforts to strengthen international academic linkages, expand global learning opportunities for students and faculty, and develop research collaborations with universities across different regions of the world.
