University of Rawalpindi Participates in Regional Vice Chancellors’ Forum at Air University
Dr Muhammad Abubakar, Rector, University of Rawalpindi, participated in the monthly meeting of Vice Chancellors and Rectors from universities and higher education institutions across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, hosted by Air University, Islamabad.
Prof. Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, S.I., Chairman, Higher Education Commission Pakistan, attended the meeting as Chief Guest. Air Marshal (R) Abdul Moeed Khan, HI(M), Vice Chancellor, Air University, welcomed the participating university leaders and underscored the importance of collective action and stronger institutional cooperation in addressing emerging challenges within the higher education sector.
During the interactive session, participants exchanged views on strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, advancing research and innovation, improving institutional governance, promoting academic excellence and expanding inter-university collaboration. The university leaders emphasised the value of sharing expertise, institutional resources and best practices and discussed opportunities for undertaking joint initiatives of mutual benefit.
Participants also visited the National Centre for Cyber Security at Air University, where they were briefed on its research capabilities, capacity-building activities and initiatives relating to cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
The meeting also marked the formal launch of the Young CEOs, Entrepreneurs and Innovators Summit, Expo & Awards 2026 by Chairman HEC Prof. Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar alongside participating university leaders. Scheduled for 15–16 October 2026 at Bahria University Islamabad, the Summit will promote youth entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership and stronger industry–academia linkages.
The forum provided a valuable platform for engagement between university leadership and higher education policymakers. University of Rawalpindi remains committed to strengthening academic partnerships, contributing to sector-wide dialogue and supporting collaborative initiatives that advance higher education and national development.
