University of Rawalpindi (UOR) participated in the 55th Vice Chancellors’ Committee meeting convened by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan and hosted by the Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (S.I.), where Dr. Muhammad Abu Bakr (Chairman UOR) represented the university among more than 100 Vice Chancellors and Rectors from across the country. The high-level forum brought together senior academic leaders to deliberate on key higher education reforms, policy initiatives, and future development priorities for the sector.

During the meeting, HEC formally launched its fully online and paperless degree attestation system integrated with NADRA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at streamlining verification processes and eliminating the need for physical visits. The Chairman HEC also highlighted ongoing reforms in degree programs, transnational education, digitalization, and the introduction of the National Skill Competency Test (NSCT) for IT graduates.

The forum further discussed sectoral challenges, financial constraints, and rising operational demands in higher education. Executive Director HEC Prof. Zia Ul Haq (S.I) briefed participants on new policy interventions and updates in university recognition and visiting faculty policies. The meeting concluded with the announcement of the Best Research Award 2025 and NRPU Awards 2025–26, recognizing excellence in research and innovation across the country.

UOR’s representation at this national platform reflects the university’s active engagement in Pakistan’s higher education landscape and its commitment to staying aligned with national academic reforms, digital transformation efforts, and quality assurance frameworks. Participation in such forums underscores the university’s growing role in contributing to policy dialogue and strengthening academic collaboration at the national level.
