University of Rawalpindi Organizes Faculty Development Workshop on Generative AI for Teaching and Presentation Design
Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), University of Rawalpindi, successfully organized an interactive Faculty Development Program workshop titled “Generative AI Tools for Teaching and Presentation Design: Creating Text, Images, Learning Resources, and AI-Powered Presentations” .
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Ahmad ud Din and Mr. Muhammad Adil from the Department of Computing and Intelligence Systems. Faculty members representing all academic departments actively participated in the session, demonstrating University's commitment to enhancing teaching excellence through emerging technologies.
The workshop provided participants with practical insights into the application of generative AI in higher education. Faculty members explored how AI-powered tools can support the creation of lesson plans, lecture notes, quizzes, worksheets, handouts, explanatory content, diagrams, images, and professional classroom presentations. The facilitators also highlighted effective prompt engineering techniques, emphasizing the importance of defining the role, context, task, format, audience, and constraints to generate accurate and meaningful outputs.
A key feature of the workshop was its hands-on approach. Participants developed AI prompts tailored to their own teaching requirements, evaluated AI-generated research citations to identify inaccuracies or fabricated references, and learned strategies for reviewing and validating AI-generated content before incorporating it into their courses.
Faculty members also gained practical experience in developing AI-assisted presentations using platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Canva AI, Gamma, and SlidesAI. They refined presentation content, visuals, layouts, and language to align with their respective course objectives and learning outcomes.
In addition, the session introduced participants to a broad range of AI tools for content creation, research support, visual design, audio and video generation, content synthesis, and presentation development. The workshop concluded with an engaging discussion on the responsible, ethical, and effective integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning practices.
This initiative reflects University of Rawalpindi's continued commitment to faculty development, digital transformation, innovative teaching methodologies, and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies to enhance the quality of higher education.
