The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), University of Rawalpindi, successfully organized its third Faculty Development Workshop, titled “Professionalism and Academic Ethics for Faculty,” on Thursday, 13 August 2026, in the Conference Room. The workshop focused on strengthening faculty members’ understanding of professional responsibilities, ethical practices, and standards of conduct within an academic environment. The session was facilitated by Dr. Rubab Tahir, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Business and Economics.

The workshop was structured around four core modules covering key areas of professionalism and academic ethics. These included professional conduct and accountability, respectful communication, ethical teaching and assessment, confidentiality, fairness, professional boundaries, conflicts of interest, and the responsible use of institutional resources. The sessions highlighted the importance of integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability in faculty responsibilities and day-to-day academic interactions.

Faculty members actively participated in hands-on, scenario-based activities designed around common academic and workplace challenges. These practical exercises encouraged participants to examine real-world situations, identify potential ethical concerns, consider appropriate professional responses, and apply ethical principles to their academic responsibilities. The interactive approach helped connect theoretical concepts with practical challenges faced by faculty in teaching, assessment, communication, and institutional decision-making.

Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining fair and transparent assessment practices, protecting confidentiality, establishing appropriate professional boundaries, managing conflicts of interest, and promoting respectful communication among faculty members, students, and colleagues. The workshop also reinforced the importance of using institutional resources responsibly and maintaining professional standards in all academic and administrative responsibilities.

The Faculty Development Workshop reflects the ongoing efforts of QEC, University of Rawalpindi to strengthen faculty capacity and promote continuous professional development. It also supports a wider institutional commitment to academic integrity, ethical decision-making, professional excellence, accountability, and a respectful academic culture.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, University of Rawalpindi continues to encourage faculty members to uphold high standards of professionalism and ethics, contributing to a positive learning environment and continuous improvement in academic quality.
