Students from University of Rawalpindi, representing the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Digital Design and Computer Arts (DDCA), recently visited the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) as part of an experiential learning initiative.

The visit was conducted under the academic supervision of Dr Saniya Moazzam as part of the Civics and Community Engagement course, with DDCA students guided by Ms Aina Merzia. The activity aimed to expose students to real-world learning environments beyond the classroom by engaging them with contemporary art, civic awareness, and professional exhibition management.

During the visit, students explored a live exhibition titled “Media Advisory: Event & Art Exhibition Opening to Mark ‘16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence’,” directed by Catherine Weibel. The exhibition highlighted social issues through a range of contemporary artistic practices, including video installations, augmented reality, 3D printing, performance art, and multimedia displays.

In addition to understanding conceptual and contemporary art, students were introduced to the operational aspects of professional exhibition management. PNCA staff briefed students on exhibition planning, curatorial coordination, visitor flow design, media outreach, and logistical execution of large-scale public events.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into interdisciplinary learning, civic responsibility, teamwork, and professional communication. It also reinforced UOR’s commitment to student-centred and skills-focused education by bridging academic learning with real-world cultural and social engagement.
